Suzuki’s rarely seen 4×4 with Bryan Zeigler
The Suzuki X-90 is probably the least know of all of the modern Suzuki 4x4s. With only 7921 X-90s imported into the USA from 1996 to 1998, they are a hard to find vehicle. With the limited numbers of X-90s in the USA, the aftermarket industry never produced many X-90 specific parts. The good side to this is that the X-90 shares the same frame and drive train as the Sidekick. So most of the Sidekick aftermarket products either bolt right onto the X-90 or can be easily modified to work.
I first noticed the X-90 on my second trip to the ZookiMelt. I knew that I had to have one after looking at Dan Bours (rpm4x4) and Glenn Wakefields (Rocky-Road) X-90s during the 2002 ZookiMelt. Dans X-90 was modified with many Calmini products. Including their 3″ suspension and 3″ body lift combo that had been modified to fit 35″ MTRs. Glenns X-90 was sporting Rocky Roads 4.5″ Rock-Steady Combo Kit, ARB air lockers, a set Megacrawler gears, a Safari Snorkel, and many other modifications, riding on 30×9.50s MTRs.
I purchased my X-90 as soon as I could find one reasonably close to home (8 hours away). I was lucky enough to find a 1998, 4×4, manual X-90 (one of 117 sold in the USA). I have owned my X-90 for over a year now, and still enjoy every mile of my 200 mile/day commute.
